I am finally back on the blog, and I therefore think it is time to celebrate with a glass of champagne and some delicious afternoon tea:

The past month has been hectic on so many levels: moving out, moving in, finishing uni assignments and trying to get everything back to normal. Luckily I got a weekend break from all the stress and chaos when my mom and sister came to visit me a few weeks ago. Just in time for my sisters birthday, we wanted to do something special and fun on the Saturday to celebrate so I really wanted to take them out on some Afternoon Tea. Even though I loved it at Bake a Boo, I wanted to find someplace a bit more smart for a birthday celebration, so I spent some hours googling “London’s best Afternoon Tea”. My first plan was to go to Sketch, where I have wanted to go forever now, but as we were a bit last minute it was all fully booked. Luckily, I had heard some good things about the Bluebird Chelsea venue, so I thought why not give it a try?

Rushing through London traffic on a Saturday (match day may I add), we arrived a tiny bit late and were happy to be greeted with champagne upon arrival. We took our seats by the window, overlooking the beautiful streets of Chelsea and the crowded outside restaurant downstairs, and waited for the food to arrive. We chose each our tea and quickly got a full table of tea, champagne and too much food. We did as we are supposed to do, started at the bottom and worked our way up to the sweets, all while sipping our drinks and talking about everything we had to catch up on.

Of course it was all as delicious as it looked. In the first layer we found the sandwiches which were ham & cheese and egg salad + a mini salmon quiche each. Moving up, we found a fresh scone each, which we all paired with clotted cream and homemade raspberry jam, before taking a lemon loaf bite each. After the first two layers we were in the need of a little breather, before finishing with the sweets: chocolate eclair, macarons and a very unique and modern tiramisu mousse with a twist. I don’t think I have ever felt more full than after finishing an Afternoon Tea, but it is always so worth it! The venue was beautiful, the staff were so friendly and helpful and of course I have to mention that the prices on this afternoon tea is a lot more budget friendly than at many other venues – definitely worth giving a go!
